Election Commission gears up for assembly polls in Telangana


Hyderabad: The Election Commission has expedited the preparations for the upcoming assembly elections in Telangana. With the state assembly’s term ending in December this year, arrangements are being made to ensure a smooth election process.

CEO Vikas Raj announced that a meeting was held by Election Commission officials at the Murree Channa Reddy Human Resource Development Center in Hyderabad on Friday.

The primary focus of the meeting, which commenced on Friday, was to enhance the voter turnout percentage. Officials were briefed about the measures being taken in this regard. They also inquired about the security arrangements for sensitive areas and strong rooms. A comprehensive review of security measures at the polling centers was conducted.

Additionally, details about the current number of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in the state, their operational status, and the presence of Voter-Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) units were discussed. Election Commission officials, who had already received information on these matters, are scheduled to visit the state for a four-day period following the meeting.
