Enforcement agencies confiscate assets worth over Rs 669 cr ahead of Telangana elections

Hyderabad: With a steadfast commitment to upholding the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) for the upcoming Telangana State Legislative Assembly elections on November 30, the enforcement agencies of the state and central governments have successfully seized assets valued at an astonishing total exceeding Rs 669 crores.

These seizures encompassed cash, liquor, precious metals, drugs, and various freebies, showcasing a remarkable achievement within 45 days of implementing the MCC.

According to a press release from the Telangana Electoral Office issued on Thursday, the Model Code of Conduct came into effect on October 9 in preparation for the forthcoming Telangana Assembly Elections, covering 119 Assembly Constituencies.

In an extensive enforcement operation spanning from October 9 to November 23 and covering the entire state of Telangana, the police successfully confiscated the following items:

Cash amounting to Rs 260,84,89,492 Liquor valued at Rs 1,08,56,50,889; Ganja and other drugs valued at Rs 35,90,66,089; precious metals, including gold, silver, and diamonds; various freebies such as laptops, vehicles, cookers, sarees, etc., with an estimated worth of Rs 2,64,45,49,788.

The cumulative seizures over the past 24 hours alone are estimated to be worth Rs 12,16,84,585.

The total cumulative seizures, encompassing cash, liquor, precious metals, drugs, and freebies, now amount to an estimated worth of Rs 669,77,56,258, reflecting the enforcement agencies determined efforts to ensure a fair and transparent electoral process.
