England Post 201/7 Against India in 3rd T20I as Phil Salt Hits 70, Sam Curran Finishes Strong in Nottingham

England scored 201/7 against India in the third T20I at Nottingham as Phil Salt smashed 70 and Sam Curran remained unbeaten on 41. Harshit Rana and Prince Yadav took two wickets each.

Nottingham: England posted a competitive 201/7 against India in the third T20 International on Tuesday, thanks to a brilliant 70 off 44 balls by Phil Salt and an unbeaten 41 off 24 balls from Sam Curran. India’s pace bowlers Harshit Rana and Prince Yadav claimed two wickets each, but England’s strong finish helped the hosts cross the 200-run mark.

Phil Salt Anchors England Innings

Phil Salt overcame an uncertain start to score 70 runs off 44 balls, giving England a solid platform after an early maiden over from Arshdeep Singh.

Salt initially looked uncomfortable but gradually settled in and reached his half-century in 36 balls, which was relatively slow by his usual standards.

His innings included:

  • 7 fours
  • 3 sixes

He was eventually dismissed by Axar Patel while looking to accelerate further.

Sam Curran’s Late Assault Takes England Past 200

All-rounder Sam Curran remained unbeaten on 41 off 24 balls, using aggressive stroke play in the closing overs.

England recovered well after reaching 111/4 in 12 overs, adding 89 runs in the final eight overs to finish at 201/7.

Indian Pacers Impress

India’s fast bowlers delivered an encouraging performance.

Bowling figures:

  • Harshit Rana: 2/40 in 4 overs
  • Prince Yadav: 2/30 in 4 overs

Both bowlers picked up wickets at crucial stages of the innings.

However, India’s experienced spinners struggled.

Bowling figures:

  • Axar Patel: 1/49 in 4 overs
  • Varun Chakravarthy: 0/35 in 3 overs

Buttler, Brook and Bethell Make Useful Contributions

Jos Buttler scored 36 off 21 balls, attacking Harshit Rana and Axar Patel with several boundaries and sixes before being dismissed by Prince Yadav’s yorker.

Harry Brook contributed 16 runs before mistiming a pull shot off Prince Yadav, with Abhishek Sharma taking a well-judged catch at the deep mid-wicket boundary.

Jacob Bethell scored 13, adding 40 runs in 3.3 overs with Salt before Harshit Rana dismissed both Bethell and Tom Banton in successive deliveries.

Arshdeep Starts Well

Arshdeep Singh bowled an impressive maiden over to Phil Salt at the start of the innings.

India also lost a DRS review during the opening over.

After reaching his fifty, Salt struck Arshdeep for a six over deep square leg and followed it with another boundary before eventually falling to Axar Patel.

England finished on 201/7 against India in the third T20 International at Nottingham after Phil Salt’s 70 off 44 balls and Sam Curran’s unbeaten 41 off 24 balls powered the hosts. Harshit Rana and Prince Yadav picked up two wickets each for India, but England’s late surge of 89 runs in the final eight overs helped them post a challenging total.
