Five teenage boys drowned in two incidents in AP

Vijayawada: Tragedy struck as five teenage boys met a watery grave in Eluru and ASR districts in Andhra Pradesh on Sunday.

Police said that some students went on a picnic to Sitapalli stream at I.Polavaram village in Rampachodavaram mandal in ASR district.

Three of them ventured into the Sitapalli stream for a bath and drowned. The deceased were identified as Kakara Veera Venkata Arjun (16), Andiboina Devi Charn (16), and Laveti Raman (16).

The bodies were fished out of the stream. The police registered a case and sent the bodies to the area hospital in Rampachodavaram for a postmortem.

The deceased boys were studying 10th grade at ZP High School in Rampa Yerrampalem village in Godavaram mandal. A pall of gloom descended with the deaths of three teenage boys.

Meanwhile, in the second incident, which took place in Eluru district, two boys were drowned in a tank at Saripalli village in Koyyalagudem mandal in Eluru district. Police said that one of the boys accidentally fell into the tank and drowned. The deceased boys were identified as Chandu (17) and Kotta Gagan Sandesh (12).

The deceased boys went to the village to attend a function. The bodies were fished. The police registered a case and shifted the bodies for a postmortem.
