Officials also seized and discarded approximately 150 Kg of food articles during the operation.

In-House Kitchen Violations Found During Inspection

During the inspection of the in-house kitchen area, Food Safety officials observed several serious violations, including:

  • Poor hygiene conditions
  • Leftover food stored in refrigerators, which was discarded on the spot
  • Presence of pests
  • Decayed vegetables
  • Near-expiry packed food articles with torn and misleading labels

Officials stated that these conditions raised serious food safety concerns.

Pest Infestation Detected in Retail Area

In the retail section of the hypermarket, officials detected insect infestation in:

  • Besan flour
  • Atta
  • Dals

The inspection team also identified packed food articles carrying expired FSSAI licences.

Further violations included:

  • Absence of nutritional information
  • Missing FSSAI licence details
  • Missing manufacturer addresses on labels and displays

Serious Violations Found in Butchering Area

Food Safety officials found that drains in the butchering area were clogged with meat waste and emitting a pungent smell.

Officials described the situation as a serious public health concern due to unhygienic conditions in the meat handling section.

150 Kg Food Articles Seized and Samples Sent for Analysis

As part of the action taken during the inspection:

  • Approximately 150 Kg of food articles, including sweets, oils, flour, and pulses with infestation, were seized and discarded
  • Food samples were lifted on suspicion of adulteration, excess artificial colour usage, and pest infestation in besan flour
  • The collected samples were sent for laboratory analysis

Food Safety officials advised consumers to remain vigilant while purchasing food products from:

  • Retail outlets
  • Supermarkets
  • Bakeries
  • Eateries

Officials urged consumers to carefully check food quality, expiry details, and packaging information before purchasing products.
