Former HP CM Jairam Thakur accuses Congress of “betraying” promises

“Congress leaders during the election campaign here are claiming that the party has fulfilled several of election promises to the people of Himachal Pradesh.

Hyderabad: Former Chief Minister and current leader of the Opposition in Himachal Pradesh Jairam Thakur on Thursday asserted that the Congress party has deceived the people of the state by failing to fulfill the promises it made during the elections.

“Congress leaders during the election campaign here are claiming that the party has fulfilled several of election promises to the people of Himachal Pradesh. The fact is that it has totally failed in the last one year in fulfilling the 10 promises. Same was the condition in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan as well,” said Jairam Thakur while speaking to reporters here.

Highlighting specific unmet commitments, Thakur said, “In Himachal Pradesh, Congress pledged to provide Rs. 1,500 every month to women above 18 years, but not a single woman has received it. Despite being a power surplus state, the promised 300 units of electricity for every household have not materialized; instead, tariffs have increased. The party committed to reinstating the old pension scheme, yet no steps have been taken in that direction, and the New Pension Scheme persists. One cannot trust the lies of the Congress; don’t fall into its trap.”

Expressing strong criticism against the current BRS Government, Thakur remarked, “It is time to teach a lesson to the government run by a father, son, daughter, and son-in-law. Corruption has permeated all departments, with Kaleshwaram being the epitome of corruption.

Despite numerous promises, BRS has failed to deliver. People feel that BRS not only needs to be defeated but also that its leaders involved in corruption must be held accountable.”

Thakur urged the people to vote for a double-engineered government in Telangana.
