Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has prepared proposals for a 3-km four-lane elevated corridor connecting GVK One Mall at Banjara Hills Road No. 1 with the PVNR Expressway in Mehdipatnam via Masab Tank. The proposed project aims to reduce traffic congestion in the city’s central areas, improve airport connectivity, and provide a faster, traffic-free journey. The Detailed Project Report (DPR) is being prepared and will be submitted to the government for approval. Construction is expected to begin after government clearance, with the project targeted for completion in two years.

HMDA Proposes New Elevated Corridor in Hyderabad
The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has proposed the construction of a four-lane elevated highway through the heart of Hyderabad.
According to the proposal, the elevated corridor will start from GVK One Mall at Banjara Hills Road No. 1 and connect to the PVNR Expressway in Mehdipatnam through Masab Tank.
HMDA has already prepared project proposals, and the project is currently in the design stage.
Proposed Corridor to Be 3 Kilometres Long
The proposed elevated corridor will be approximately 3 kilometres in length.
The project includes:
- Three up-ramps
- Two down-ramps
- Two-lane ramps for entry and exit

- Near Taj Deccan
- Masab Tank
- Sarojini Devi Eye Hospital
Proposed Down-Ramps
- Banjara Hills Road No. 12
- Asif Nagar Road
Faster Airport Connectivity
Once completed, the elevated corridor is expected to provide quicker access to the airport for commuters travelling from:
- Panjagutta
- Khairatabad
- Banjara Hills
At present, motorists on this route face heavy traffic congestion.
Travel during peak hours can take around one hour, while rainfall further slows vehicle movement.
The project is expected to ease congestion around:
- Taj Krishna Hotel
- CARE Hospital
- Pension Office
- NMDC
Four-Lane Underpass Also Planned
Authorities have also proposed constructing a four-lane underpass connecting Banjara Hills and Vijay Nagar Colony.
The elevated corridor is intended to provide a traffic-free journey for commuters travelling from Panjagutta towards Mehdipatnam, particularly benefiting those travelling to the airport.
DPR Under Preparation
HMDA is currently conducting:
- Soil testing
- Comprehensive traffic survey
The Detailed Project Report (DPR) will soon be submitted to the government.
After obtaining government approval, HMDA plans to invite tenders and begin construction.
The project is expected to be completed within two years, with the authority aiming to make it available to motorists as early as possible.
