Delhi: In a surprising turn of events, Lufthansa flight LH 772, en route from Munich to Bangkok, made an unscheduled landing at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport on Wednesday. The diversion, shrouded in mystery pending an official statement, is rumored to be linked to a heated argument between a couple on board.
According to sources, a German man and his Thai wife engaged in a dispute mid-air, prompting the flight crew to seek permission for an emergency landing at IGI. The pilots contacted the Air Traffic Control (ATC) at 10:26 am, citing a “situation and possible unruly passenger” on board.
The situation escalated as the wife, feeling threatened by her husband’s behavior, lodged a complaint with the pilot. Seeking intervention, she initiated a series of events leading to the decision to divert the flight.
Upon landing, Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel, along with flight crew and other staff, engaged with the couple in the terminal area. The passengers were subsequently deboarded, and discussions took place to address the matter.
