Hyderabad to Face 18-Hour Water Supply Disruption in Several Areas, Check List

Hyderabad will face an 18-hour drinking water supply disruption from January 8 to 9 due to pipeline repairs. Check affected areas and advisory by HMWSSB.

The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) has issued an important alert for city residents, announcing an 18-hour disruption in drinking water supply in several parts of Hyderabad due to emergency maintenance works. Citizens in the affected areas have been urged to use water conservatively during this period.

Why Water Supply Will Be Disrupted

According to HMWSSB officials, the water cut is necessary to carry out emergency repair works on the 1600 mm diameter Phase-3 main pipeline from Peddapur to Singapore under the Singur project, which supplies drinking water to Hyderabad.

In addition, TS Transco will undertake:

  • General maintenance work
  • MRT testing
  • Hotline repairs
  • Maintenance of the 132 KV Kandi sub-station Peddapur feeder

Water Cut Schedule

  • Start: 10:00 am on Thursday, January 8, 2026
  • End: 4:00 am on Friday, January 9, 2026
  • Total Duration: 18 hours

Advisory to Residents

The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board has appealed to residents in the affected areas to:

  • Store adequate water in advance
  • Avoid wastage
  • Use water efficiently until normal supply resumes

The board stated that the repairs are essential to prevent major leakages and ensure uninterrupted water supply in the future.

Residents are advised to stay updated and plan their water usage accordingly during the scheduled maintenance window.
