Hyderabad Youth League launched to provide year-round grassroots football platform

HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Youth League (HYL), a new season-long grassroots football competition for youth players, has been launched with the objective of providing academies, clubs and educational institutions a structured platform for consistent competition throughout the year.

The league is a collaborative initiative between Hyderabad Football League, Hyderabad Super League and Hyderabad Football Academy – three of the city’s most established grassroots football organisations. By combining their experience in player development, competition management and community engagement, the initiative aims to strengthen Hyderabad’s youth football ecosystem through a unified and sustainable competition structure.

Unlike standalone tournaments, the Hyderabad Youth League will follow a championship model running from August to May, with competitions across Under-8, Under-10, Under-13, Under-16 and Under-18 age groups. Performances in every competition will contribute points towards an overall season championship, encouraging sustained excellence across all age categories rather than success in a single tournament.

The initiative aims to bridge the gap in Hyderabad’s youth football landscape by offering a consistent competitive calendar that allows players and institutions to plan and develop over an entire season instead of preparing for isolated events.

“Hyderabad has long needed a structured and consistent platform where young footballers can compete regularly and continue developing throughout the year,” said Faiz Khan, Co-Founder of Hyderabad Youth League. “The Hyderabad Youth League is the beginning of that journey. We want to create a sustainable ecosystem where every academy, club and school has meaningful competition, and every young player has the opportunity to improve through regular match experience.”

The inaugural season begins in August, with registrations and competition details to be announced shortly.
