How the Duplicate Registration Number Plate Fraud Was Detected
According to the press note, on 03-07-2026, the Commissioner’s Task Force, Charminar Zone team apprehended Nakoti Mallikarjun, Bheem Ajay Reddy and Koppula Dhanraj after Bheem Ajay Reddy was found riding a Honda Activa bearing registration number TS09 FE 4997.
During verification through official vehicle databases and subsequent interrogation, police found a mismatch in the engine number and chassis number.
Further investigation revealed that the vehicle was an unregistered financed vehicle originally belonging to Sai Ram, who had handed it over to Nakoti Mallikarjun against a pending debt.
Police stated that to conceal the vehicle from IndusInd Bank repossession due to an outstanding balance of Rs. 36,000, Nakoti Mallikarjun allegedly fraudulently affixed the duplicate registration number plate of his own genuine vehicle bearing registration number TS09 FE 4997 and gave the vehicle to Bheem Ajay Reddy.
The investigation further revealed that Nakoti Mallikarjun had also permitted his friend Koppula Dhanraj to use the same registration number to evade traffic challans while operating an unregistered vehicle by using a duplicate registration plate.
According to police, following the instructions of Nakoti Mallikarjun, all three accused were using the same registration number plate on three different Honda Activa two-wheelers with the intention of misleading and cheating government authorities, enforcement agencies and financiers.
