Hyderabad Police Arrest Two Ganja Peddlers in Bhavani Nagar, Seize 2.334 Kg Ganja, Cash and Honda Activa

Hyderabad Police arrested two alleged ganja peddlers in Bhavani Nagar and seized 2.334 kg of ganja, ₹6,000 cash, a Honda Activa, and mobile phones. The accused have been remanded under the NDPS Act.

Hyderabad: Bhavani Nagar Police Station, along with the Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force, arrested two alleged ganja peddlers for illegally possessing and transporting 2.334 kg of ganja in Bhavani Nagar. Police seized the contraband, ₹6,000 in cash, a number plate-less red Honda Activa, two mobile phones, and other material. A case has been registered under the NDPS Act, the accused have been remanded to judicial custody, and efforts are continuing to trace the main supplier.

Special Operation Conducted in Bhavani Nagar

According to the police, based on credible information, a joint operation was conducted on July 2, 2026, at Road No. 0, beside the railway track at Talab Katta, under the limits of Bhavani Nagar Police Station.

At around 4:10 pm, two persons travelling on a red Honda Activa without a number plate allegedly attempted to flee after noticing the police.

The police intercepted them and conducted a search by following the legal procedures under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

During the search, 2.334 kg of ganja was recovered.

Police said the accused were allegedly transporting the ganja to sell it to consumers in the Old City area.

The seized ganja is valued at approximately ₹54,900.

Investigation Reveals Alleged Supply from Nagpur

According to the preliminary investigation, the accused allegedly procured the ganja from a supplier in Nagpur, Maharashtra, and brought it to Hyderabad for distribution.

Police said they intended to divide the contraband into small packets and sell it to local consumers to earn illegal profits.

The investigation also revealed that the accused allegedly targeted habitual local consumers and were regularly involved in drug trafficking.

Police said efforts are underway to identify and arrest the main supplier and others connected to the drug supply network.

Details of the Arrested Accused

The arrested accused have been identified as:

  1. Mohd Nasheer, 43 years, a rowdy-sheeter under the limits of Bhavani Nagar Police Station.
    • Police stated that he has previously been involved in 20 cases related to ganja trafficking, the Arms Act, and theft.
  2. Mohd Mehraj Ali, 24 years.
    • Police said he was previously involved in two ganja cases registered at Gopalpuram Police Station and Quthbullapur Excise Police Station.

Police seized the following items:

  • 2.334 kg of ganja
  • 5 small packets containing ganja
  • 6 empty zip-lock covers
  • ₹6,000 in cash
  • One red Honda Activa without a number plate
  • One Nokia keypad mobile phone
  • One Samsung S22 Ultra mobile phone

Case Registered Under NDPS Act

Police registered a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

The accused were produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody.

The investigation is continuing to trace the alleged supplier of the narcotics.

Public Advisory

Hyderabad City Police said it follows a zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking, illegal sale of narcotics, and organised crime.

Police stated that strict legal action will be taken under the NDPS Act against anyone found selling, transporting, or possessing narcotic substances.

Citizens have been requested to immediately report any information related to drug trafficking or suspicious activities by calling 100 or 112, or by contacting the nearest police station.

Police also reaffirmed their commitment to eliminating the drug menace and protecting society, especially the youth, from drug abuse.
