A.V. Ranganath said people across Telangana and other states are demanding a system like HYDRAA, highlighting the positive response received for lake restoration and anti-encroachment initiatives in Hyderabad. Speaking to reporters in Nalgonda, the Commissioner stated that HYDRAA has protected 2100 acres of land in the last one-and-a-half years and is focusing on lake rejuvenation, flood prevention and removal of encroachments.

People Across States Want HYDRAA System
During an interaction with reporters in Nalgonda while attending a private programme, A.V. Ranganath said not only Hyderabad residents but also people from other towns and states are demanding a system similar to HYDRAA.
He stated that many people are requesting the expansion of HYDRAA, but clarified that the organisation’s current jurisdiction is limited to the ORR region.
According to the Commissioner, HYDRAA is receiving strong public support and positive feedback from citizens.
HYDRAA Lake Restoration and Encroachment Removal
A.V. Ranganath stated that HYDRAA is moving forward with constructive development activities.
He said nearly 25 lakes would be developed under the initiative.
The Commissioner added that smaller lakes spread across 5-acre and 10-acre areas would also be developed through CSR support.
He described lake restoration as a major initiative and noted that removing encroachments from water bodies remains a bigger challenge.
Karnataka and Chennai Teams Studied HYDRAA Model
The Commissioner recalled that a Karnataka municipal team appreciated HYDRAA’s efforts in protecting 2100 acres of land within one-and-a-half years.
He stated that while HYDRAA officials had visited Bengaluru to study lake rejuvenation methods, Karnataka municipal teams later visited Hyderabad to understand how encroachments were removed and lakes were restored.
According to him, a team of officials from Chennai also recently visited Hyderabad to study lake development works and measures taken by HYDRAA to prevent urban flooding during the monsoon season.
Government to Provide Double Bedroom Houses
A.V. Ranganath said the government has decided to provide double-bedroom houses to poor people who lost houses during lake rejuvenation programmes.
He reiterated that lake restoration and flood prevention remain major priorities under HYDRAA activities.
