HYDRAA Launches Massive Operation at Mushkin Cheruvu, Removes Encroachments and Protects 52.20-Acre Lake in Puppalguda-Narsingi

HYDRAA carried out a major anti-encroachment operation at Mushkin Cheruvu in Puppalguda and Narsingi villages, Rangareddy district, removing huts, encroachments and an embankment while fencing the 52.20-acre lake area.

Hyderabad: In another major operation, HYDRAA carried out an extensive anti-encroachment drive at Mushkin Cheruvu located in Puppalguda and Narsingi villages of Gandipet Mandal in Rangareddy district on Saturday. The operation focused on protecting the lake by removing encroachments, huts, and an embankment allegedly constructed in the middle of the water body. HYDRAA also began fencing the lake area and surrounding government land to prevent future encroachments.

According to HMDA calculations, Mushkin Cheruvu falls within a Full Tank Level (FTL) area of 52.20 acres. Officials stated that there was an attempt to construct a dam-like embankment in the middle of the pond and encroach upon 34.21 acres of land.

HYDRAA Acts to Protect Mushkin Cheruvu Lake

As part of the operation, HYDRAA initiated fencing around land estimated to be worth ₹5,500 crore and conducted inspections to identify encroachments within Mushkin Cheruvu. Officials said the action was aimed at safeguarding the entire 52.20-acre pond and preventing any further illegal occupation.

The agency also removed encroachments, huts, and the embankment that had reportedly been built in the middle of the lake area.

Lake Development Allegations and Construction Activity

Authorities noted that there had been attempts to encroach on the lake under the guise of lake development activities. A construction company had undertaken lake development work using Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds.

Officials further stated that rules governing construction activities in the lake area had been violated. HYDRAA maintained that any construction activity within the protected lake zone was against established regulations.

Land Records and Ownership Details

According to HMDA records, the lake falls within an FTL area of 52.20 acres. However, village records indicate that the total lake area measures 59.11 acres.

Of the total area recorded in village documents:

  • Government land: 20.23 acres
  • Remaining land: Exal Patta land

HYDRAA said its objective is to protect the entire lake area, including the FTL region and the remaining government land.

Huts Removed After Notice Period

Officials alleged that some realtors attempted to construct huts in the name of poor people and later sought to use them as part of encroachment activities.

HYDRAA reportedly provided two months’ time for occupants to vacate the area. Following the notice period, residents of the huts voluntarily vacated and left the location.

On Saturday, HYDRAA continued fencing the lake’s FTL boundaries and simultaneously removed the embankment constructed in the middle of the pond.

HYDRAA Continues Protection Measures

The ongoing operation forms part of HYDRAA’s efforts to protect lakes, FTL areas, and government land from encroachments. Officials stated that fencing work around Mushkin Cheruvu will help secure the entire 52.20-acre lake and prevent future violations.

The agency is continuing work to protect the pond’s FTL limits, remove illegal structures, and safeguard the remaining government land in Puppalguda and Narsingi villages of Gandipet Mandal, Rangareddy district.
