Historical Significance of Irrum Manzil Palace in Hyderabad

The iconic Irrum Manzil Palace, meaning “Paradise Mansion,” holds deep historical value:

  • Built in the late 19th century
  • Constructed by Nawab Fakhr al-Mulk of the Salar Jung family
  • Located on a hilltop in Punjagutta, Hyderabad
  • Spread across multiple acres with landscaped gardens and hundreds of rooms

After India’s Independence, the palace was used for government offices, including:

  • State Archives
  • Public Works Department
  • Irrigation Department
  • Roads and Buildings Department

Despite its legacy, the structure has remained largely unused in recent years and was even earlier proposed for demolition.
