The Congress party, led by TPCC president A. Revanth Reddy, unveiled its Minority Declaration, featuring significant initiatives such as granting ₹1.60 lakh to newly-wed Muslim, Christian, and Sikh couples, increasing the minorities’ welfare budget to ₹4,000 crore, and allocating ₹1,000 crore per annum for subsidized loans to unemployed minority youth and women.
The declaration also includes commitments to revitalize SETWIN and transform Quli Qutub Shah Urban Development Authority for infrastructure development in the Old City.
Mr. Revanth Reddy emphasized a caste census within six months of assuming power, ensuring ‘fair reservation’ for all Backward Classes, including minorities.
The ‘Abdul Kalam Taufa-e-Taleem’ scheme pledges financial assistance for minority youths pursuing Ph.D. and varying amounts for different educational milestones. Plans involve a special DSC exam for recruiting Urdu medium teachers, establishing a ‘Telangana Sikh Minority Finance Corporation,’ filling vacancies in minority institutions, and providing monthly honorariums to priests.
Amendments to ‘The Telangana State Minorities Commission Act 1998’ are proposed for permanence, and digitalizing Waqf Board’s land and property records is on the agenda.
The party also commits to safeguarding and allocating land for Muslim and Christian graveyards, and under the Indiramma Indlu scheme, promises house sites and ₹5 lakh for constructing homes for houseless minority families.
