Reacting to the fuel crisis, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu instructed officials to take urgent steps to address the issue.
He also directed that a detailed report be submitted by this evening on:
- Measures taken by various departments
- Progress in resolving the petrol and diesel shortage
Teleconference Held to Assess Fuel Crisis
The Chief Minister held a teleconference with G. Sai Prasad and senior officials to review the situation.
Officials informed him about the large-scale impact of panic buying on fuel availability across the state.
421 Petrol Bunks Shut Out of 4,510 Fuel Outlets
According to officials:
- Total fuel outlets in the state: 4,510
- Petrol bunks shut due to lack of supply: 421
The closures were attributed to sudden depletion of fuel stocks.
Panic Buying Causes Surge in Fuel Demand
Officials stated that although fuel supply has increased by 10 per cent, panic buying has led to a heavy rush at fuel stations.

- Petrol: 6,330 kilolitres
- Diesel: 9,048 kilolitres
- Saturday sales spike:
- Petrol: 10,345 kilolitres
- Diesel: 14,156 kilolitres
This represents an increase of over 50 percent, leading to rapid stock depletion.
Aqua Sector Bulk Purchases Add Pressure
Officials also highlighted that bulk purchases in drums by the aqua sector are creating additional pressure on fuel supplies, worsening the shortage situation.
CM Directs Continuous Monitoring
The Chief Minister directed officials to continuously monitor the situation at petrol bunks and take necessary steps to resolve the issue at the earliest.
He emphasized the need to ensure smooth supply and reduce inconvenience to the public.
The petrol shortage issue in Andhra Pradesh, which led to the closure of 421 fuel outlets out of 4,510, has prompted Chief Minister N.
