Rapido Rider Dies by Suicide; Wife Alleges Harassment by L&T Finance Recovery Agents

A 38-year-old Rapido rider allegedly died by suicide in Yapral, Medchal district. His wife has alleged harassment by L&T Finance recovery agents over unpaid EMI. Jawahar Nagar Police are investigating.

A 38-year-old Rapido rider, Sridhar, allegedly died by suicide in Kindi Basti, Yapral, under the jurisdiction of Jawahar Nagar Police Station in Medchal district, reportedly after being unable to bear the alleged pressure from L&T Finance recovery agents over unpaid EMI dues. Based on a complaint from family members, Jawahar Nagar Police have registered a case and shifted the body to Gandhi Hospital for post-mortem. The investigation is ongoing.

Rapido Rider Found Dead in Yapral

According to the information available, Sridhar (38) was residing in Kindi Basti, Yapral, along with his wife and two children.

He had purchased a Honda Activa through L&T Finance and earned his livelihood by working as a Rapido rider.

Vehicle Allegedly Seized Over Unpaid EMI

Family members stated that last month, Sridhar was unable to pay the EMI for the Honda Activa.

They alleged that persons claiming to be L&T Finance recovery agents took away the vehicle due to the pending EMI.

Wife Alleges Repeated Harassment

According to the family, the alleged recovery agents did not stop after taking the vehicle.

They reportedly made repeated phone calls to Sridhar and his family members, demanding payment of the outstanding EMI.

The family alleged that the repeated calls and pressure caused Sridhar severe mental distress.

They said that while no one was at home, Sridhar allegedly died by suicide by hanging.

Wife Blames Recovery Agents

Reacting to the incident, Sridhar’s wife alleged that her husband’s death was the result of pressure from L&T Finance recovery agents.

This allegation has been made by the family and forms part of their complaint to the police.

Police Register Case, Body Shifted to Gandhi Hospital

Based on information provided by the family, Jawahar Nagar Police registered a case.

The body was shifted to Gandhi Hospital for post-mortem examination.

Further investigation into the case is underway.
