Saudi Arabia launches new e-passport

With an electronic chip, the e- passport protects the holder’s personal data and photos.

Jeddah: Saudi Arabia has introduced new e-passport for its citizens. The new Saudi electronic passport was launched by Saudi Minister of Interior Prince Abdul Aziz bin Saud bin Naif during a visit to the Directorate General of Passports in Riyadh on Thursday. 

According to the Arab News, the new passport has advanced security features and aesthetic design. It has been designed with the highest technical specifications and modern security features used in international travel documents.

With an electronic chip, the e- passport protects the holder’s personal data and photos. It also a verification feature that can be auto-scanned at smart gates at international borders.

Each page of the passport displays the Kingdom’s most famous historical and cultural landmarks, such as the Makkah Clock Tower. each containing different technology, the passport also includes three images of the passport holder.
