Addressing the media at the Telangana BJP party headquarters, Scindia emphasised the strides made under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership in steering India’s development over the past decade. Under Modi’s rule, India has ascended to become the 5th largest economy globally, with aspirations to rank 3rd by 2030.
Highlighting Modi’s commitment to democracy and good governance, Scindia commended the Udan scheme, enabling common citizens to access air travel. The Prime Minister’s goal of witnessing a person in ‘Hawai chappal’ (sandals) flying on a plane signifies the inclusive vision of making air travel accessible to all.
The Udan scheme has initiated 517 routes, connecting 76 airports, including 9 heliports and 2 water aerodromes. The aviation market in India is rapidly expanding, poised to become the largest by 2047, making the country the third-largest domestic market and seventh-largest international market globally.
Scindia outlined plans for India’s aviation sector to reach a growth of USD 20 trillion by 2047, emphasizing progress made over the past decade, including the establishment of greenfield airports in Mumbai and Delhi.
Acknowledging the surge in demand for aviation personnel, Scindia announced the launch of the GMR School of Aviation in Hyderabad, offering courses in aircraft maintenance engineering. Additionally, a ‘Civil Aviation Research Center’ of international standards is underway at Begumpet Airport.
With a focus on fast connectivity, Scindia highlighted the order for the purchase of 500 new indigo planes, showcasing the commitment to bolstering economic development through robust aviation infrastructure.
