The controversy erupted when a senior woman leader from the Satyavedu assembly constituency, Chittoor district, accused Adimoolam of misconduct.
During a press conference in Tirupati on Thursday, the woman leader revealed video evidence purportedly showing Adimoolam engaging in inappropriate behavior with her at a hotel in Tirupati last month. The video, recorded secretly using a pen camera, captured Adimoolam’s alleged misconduct.
The woman claimed that Adimoolam had been making inappropriate advances towards her after acquiring her contact details during party events. She alleged that he called her to a hotel room under the pretense of a meeting, where he sexually assaulted her. She also accused him of threatening to kill her and her family if she disclosed the abuse and alleged that he raped her on three separate occasions in the same hotel.
Determined to expose him, she secretly recorded the assault during their last encounter. She also accused Adimoolam of being a serial offender, claiming he had assaulted multiple women and tormented those who refused to comply with his demands.
Following these revelations, the TDP took immediate action. TDP State President Palla Srinivasa Rao issued a statement emphasizing that the party takes the allegations seriously and has decided to suspend Adimoolam pending further investigation.
Adimoolam has denied the allegations, asserting that they are part of a conspiracy by party leaders. The scandal has created a significant stir in Andhra Pradesh politics, with widespread outrage and calls for further action.
The TDP leadership has ordered an investigation into the matter, and if the allegations are confirmed, further disciplinary actions, including a potential resignation from his MLA position, could follow.
