Students forced to remove burqa while writing exam in old city of Hyderabad

Hyderabad: In the old city of Hyderabad, a disturbing incident took place at an examination center where female students were compelled to remove their burqas and write the exam.

This incident has sparked outrage among the students. Several Muslim students from the Women’s Degree College, located at Santosh Nagar IS Sadan, had chosen to wear hijab while writing the Urdu Medium Degree exam.

However, upon arriving at the examination center, they were instructed by the college staff to remove their hijabs. The students expressed their dismay at being barred from participating in the examination for nearly half an hour. Some students reluctantly complied with the staff’s demands and removed their hijabs in order to enter the examination center.

The students further revealed that they were informed they could wear their burqas again once the exam had concluded.

While other colleges allowed students to write exams wearing burqas, this particular college had imposed the requirement to remove them.
