The Telangana BJP Legislature Party leader Alleti Maheshwar Reddy has moved the apex court seeking contempt of court proceedings against the Speaker for failing to act within the stipulated timeframe.

According to the petition, public statements made by Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender, indicating that he continues to remain with the Congress despite switching sides, were also cited as evidence of inaction.

In November last year, the Supreme Court had already issued a contempt notice to the Telangana Assembly Speaker in the same matter.
