Telangana Assembly Election, election process begins with issuance of notification

Hyderabad: The process of Telangana Assembly elections has started with the release of gazette notification on Friday. With the issuance of the declaration, the process of filing nominations for the 119 member assembly elections to be held on November 30 has also started.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has finalized the schedule for the various phases of the elections by publishing a notification. The Returning Officers (RO) of all the constituencies will accept the Assistant Returning Officer (ARO) forms by issuing Form No. 1 and the establishment of entry of nominations in the office of Returning Officers and other details have been issued.

Paper nominations will be received in the offices of the Returning Officers in all assembly constituencies till November 10 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm on weekdays. November 13 will be the last date for the withdrawal of nominations. November 15 is set. Voting will be held across the state on November 30 and counting of votes will be held on December 3 and the results will be announced

Meanwhile, Chief Electoral Officer Vikas Raj said that proper arrangements have been made in the office of all Returning Officers to collect nomination papers.

As per the orders issued by the Election Commission of India, each candidate will be allowed to enter only three vehicles within 100 meters of the Returning Officer’s office at the time of filing nomination papers.

While 5 persons including the candidate have been allowed to go to the Returning Officer’s chamber. Every candidate will be required to disclose details of criminal background cases, assets, liabilities and educational qualifications in an affidavit in Form 26. At least one day before filing the nomination paper, the candidate has to open a separate bank account for money transactions for election expenses.

This account can be opened in any bank in the state. Online submission of nominations is also available through the Election Commission of India’s portal Swedha, but the signed hard copy has to be submitted in the office of the Returning Officer.

The Returning Officers will release the list of paper nominations filed daily at 3 pm. Copies of the submitted nomination papers and affidavits will be pasted on the notice board of the Returning Officers.
