Telangana Extends Breakfast and Mid-Day Meal Scheme to Teaching, Non-Teaching Staff

Hyderabad: The Telangana School Education Department has announced the extension of the TG Breakfast and Mid-Day Meal programmes to teaching and non-teaching staff working in eligible educational institutions across the state.

The decision, which comes into effect immediately, will provide school staff with the same breakfast and lunch facilities currently being provided to students under the government’s nutritional welfare initiatives.

According to the department’s directive, the expanded provision will cover staff working in government, local body and other educational institutions under its jurisdiction.

Meal Benefits Extended to School Staff

Under the new order, teaching and non-teaching employees will be entitled to receive breakfast and mid-day meals along with students. The move is aimed at extending nutritional support to the wider school workforce.

The department has directed the Additional Director of the Mid-Day Meal programme to make necessary changes to the existing digital portals. The modifications will facilitate the proper recording and monitoring of meals consumed by teaching and non-teaching staff.

Instructions Issued to Educational Institutions

The department has communicated the decision to officials at various levels, including Regional Joint Directors, District-level authorities and Headmasters. Agencies responsible for operating centralised kitchens have also been informed about the revised arrangements.

The order has been issued for immediate implementation across all eligible institutions.

With the expansion of the programme, the Telangana government aims to ensure that the nutritional welfare measures available to students are also extended to the school workforce, providing breakfast and lunch support to teaching and non-teaching personnel.
