According to local police, Tirupati Rao consumed pesticide on Monday, reportedly overwhelmed by sorrow after his son died by suicide two months ago.

On March 10, his son had jumped into an agricultural well, leading to his untimely demise. Since then, Tirupati Rao had been in a state of deep depression, say family members.

He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment after ingesting the pesticide, but he succumbed to the poison during medical care.
