Telangana Heatwave Alert: Temperature May Reach 47°C in Eastern Districts

Telangana may witness severe heatwave conditions from May 12, with temperatures expected to touch 47°C in some eastern districts between May 18 and 22.

Telangana is likely to witness the return of severe heatwave conditions once again, and weather experts have warned that people may face harsh weather conditions in the coming days.

According to experts, intense heat is expected to begin in Telangana from May 12 and may continue for nearly 10 days. “Loo” conditions are especially predicted in the northern and eastern districts of the state.

Temperatures in northern and eastern Telangana may reach up to 43 degrees Celsius.

Temperature May Touch 47°C in Eastern Telangana Districts

Weather experts said that between May 18 and May 22, temperatures in some eastern Telangana districts could rise up to 47 degrees Celsius due to the possibility of hot and dry winds, commonly known as “Loo.”

Although light rainfall may occur at a few places during the next 10 days, experts said there is little hope for major relief from the heatwave.

Monsoon May Reach Andaman and Nicobar Around May 15

An important forecast has also emerged regarding the southwest monsoon.

Experts stated that the monsoon may reach the Andaman and Nicobar Islands around May 15, although there could be a difference of one day earlier or later.

However, despite the progress of the monsoon in the Bay of Bengal region, there are no signs of immediate relief from the heat in Telangana.

IMD Earlier Warned About Return of Severe Heat

The India Meteorological Department had also warned on May 8 that severe heatwave conditions could return in the state from Sunday.

In the past few days, some decrease in temperatures was recorded in Hyderabad and other districts.

In Hyderabad, the maximum temperature recorded was 36 degrees Celsius in the Khairatabad area, while Nagarkurnool district recorded 35 degrees Celsius.

On the other hand, Nizamabad district recorded the highest temperature at 42.8 degrees Celsius.

Experts Advise Public to Avoid Afternoon Heat

Experts advised people to avoid going outside unnecessarily during afternoon hours.

They also suggested:

  • Drink plenty of water
  • Take special care of children and elderly people
  • Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight

Experts warned that the heat in Telangana could become more dangerous in the coming days.

Telangana is expected to face severe heatwave conditions again from May 12, with temperatures likely to touch 43°C in northern and eastern districts and possibly rise to 47°C between May 18 and May 22 in some eastern Telangana areas. The India Meteorological Department has already warned about the return of intense heat conditions. Experts have advised the public to remain cautious, stay hydrated, and avoid unnecessary outdoor exposure during peak afternoon hours.
