Telangana Launches Family Register Certificate: Valid for Special Intensive Revision, Here’s How to Apply and Who Is Eligible

Hyderabad: The Government of Telangana has issued G.O.Ms.No. 172, dated July 25, 2026, introducing the Telangana Family Register and launching the Family Register Certificate through the MeeSeva platform. The certificate, available on payment of a ₹62 service charge, has been welcomed as one of the 12 acceptable documents under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). The move was also welcomed by Faheem Qureshi, who said he had submitted a representation to the government along with @FaheemQureshinc, expressing hope that the facility would benefit poor and undocumented people who receive SIR notices.

Telangana Government Issues G.O.Ms.No. 172 for Family Register Certificate

The Revenue (Ser.II) Department issued G.O.Ms.No. 172 on July 25, 2026, establishing a state-wide electronic Telangana Family Register to help citizens produce an authenticated and reliable record of their family composition while availing various government services.

According to the order, the register will be maintained in electronic form and a Family Register Certificate will be issued through the MeeSeva platform.

Details to Be Included in the Telangana Family Register

The Family Register will contain the following details for each family unit:

• Family Register Identification Number (same as the Ration Card Number)
• Name of the Head of the Family
• Name of each family member
• Relationship of each member with the Head of the Family
• Age and date of birth of each member
• Gender of each member
• Aadhaar number of each member
• Present address, including Door Number, Street, Village/Ward, Gram Panchayat/Municipality, Mandal and District

The government stated that the register will be populated electronically using data from the Food Security Card (Ration Card) database maintained by the Commissioner of Civil Supplies.

Certificate Does Not Decide Property Rights or Legal Heirship

The government clarified that the Family Register and any certificate issued from it only record the composition of the family as reflected in the source database.

The order specifically states that the certificate:

• Does not confer, create, extinguish or determine any right, title or interest in any property.
• Shall not be treated as a determination of legal heirship.
• Does not confer any right or claim for benefits under government schemes.

How Citizens Can Apply Through MeeSeva

Citizens may apply for a copy of the Family Register through:

• Any MeeSeva Centre
• MeeSeva online portal
• MeeSeva mobile application

Applicants must:

• Pay the prescribed ₹62 service charge
• Submit the application in the prescribed format
• Provide the family’s Food Security Card (Ration Card) number

Only a major family member whose details are recorded in the register is eligible to apply.

Approval Process and Two-Day Service Timeline

According to the government order:

• The Tahsildar of the concerned mandal, based on the address in the Food Security Card database, will be the approving authority.
• Applications submitted through MeeSeva will automatically reach the concerned Tahsildar.
• The Tahsildar will verify the details with the Food Security Card database and approve the application using a digital signature.
• The certificate will carry a unique certificate number and the digital signature of the Tahsildar.
• Citizens will be able to download the certificate through MeeSeva.
• The service must be completed within two working days from the date of receipt of the application.

Officials Directed to Implement the Service

The government directed:

• The Commissioner, Electronic Service Delivery (ESD), Telangana, to establish the required API integration with the Food Security Card database and enable the Family Register Certificate service on MeeSeva.
• The Commissioner of Civil Supplies, Telangana, to provide the necessary cooperation and database access.
• All District Collectors to communicate the instructions to Revenue officials and monitor implementation.

The order was issued by order and in the name of the Governor of Telangana and signed by Lokesh Kumar D.S., Secretary to Government.

Welcoming the decision, Faheem Qureshi said he had made a representation to the government along with @FaheemQureshinc.

He stated that the Family Register Certificate is one of the 12 acceptable documents under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) and said it would benefit many poor and undocumented people if they receive notice.
