Telangana Police seize assets worth Rs 518 cr during 2023 assembly elections enforcement

Hyderabad: In an exemplary display of their commitment to upholding the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) for the 2023 Telangana State Legislative Assembly elections, scheduled for November 30, Telangana Police have successfully confiscated assets with a staggering total value exceeding Rs 518 crores.

These seizures encompass cash, liquor, precious metals, drugs, and freebies. This impressive accomplishment was achieved within 29 days of implementing the MCC.

According to a press release from the Telangana Electoral Office issued on Tuesday, the Model Code of Conduct came into effect on October 9 in preparation for the upcoming Telangana Assembly Elections, which cover 119 Assembly Constituencies.

During this extensive enforcement operation, the police successfully confiscated the following items between October 9 and November 7, covering the entire state of Telangana: Cash amounting to Rs 1,77,32,39,765, Liquor valued at Rs 66,45,91,737, Ganja and other drugs valued at Rs 30,71,78,964, Precious metals, including gold, silver, diamonds Various freebies such as laptops, vehicles, cookers, sarees, etc., with an estimated worth of Rs 2,44,40,02,567.

The cumulative seizures over the past 24 hours alone are estimated to be worth Rs 20,30,83,018.

The total cumulative seizures, which include cash, liquor, precious metals, drugs, and freebies, now amount to an estimated worth of Rs 5,18,90,13,033.
