Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has praised the state for completing its caste census, calling it a model for the entire nation. During a review meeting held at the Integrated Command Control Centre on Wednesday, Revanth highlighted that the state’s comprehensive house-to-house survey has gained national recognition for its effective execution.

Successful Completion of Caste Census

Revanth Reddy commended the officers and employees involved in the survey, acknowledging their hard work and dedication. The CM emphasized that the data collected from the caste census will play a vital role in empowering socially backward communities, including BC, SC, ST, Minority, and other weaker sections. He stated that the successful conduct of this survey reflects the state government’s commitment to fulfilling promises made during the Assembly elections.

Survey Data to Aid in Social Empowerment

The caste census data will be instrumental in shaping policies aimed at social empowerment and holistic development. Revanth mentioned that the data would be used by the BC Dedicated Commission set up by the state government. He expressed confidence that the outcome of this effort will pave the way for more inclusive policies for Telangana’s diverse population.

Final Report Expected by February 2

Officials briefed the Chief Minister that the survey data entry process has been completed, and a draft report will be submitted in the coming days. Revanth directed the officials to submit the final report to the Cabinet Sub-Committee by February 2, ensuring timely progress on the project.

Massive Effort Involving Over One Lakh Workers

The comprehensive household survey, launched on November 6, 2024, was completed by the first week of December across all districts of Telangana. Over 100,000 employees, including enumerators, supervisors, and data entry operators, participated in the survey, which was undertaken as a “Maha Yagna” by the state Planning Department.

Record Completion Speed

The survey covered nearly 1.16 crore families in Telangana, with enumerators conducting door-to-door surveys to gather detailed information. With more than 96 percent of the families surveyed, the caste census was completed in a record time, garnering praise for its efficiency.

Review Meeting Attendees

The review meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, Ministers Damodar Raja Narasimha, Uttam Kumar Reddy, Seethakka, and Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, along with government advisors K. Keshava Rao, former minister Jana Reddy, Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari, and senior officials from various departments.
