Two groups clash at Hyderabad pub; police file 3 cases

Hyderabad: Two people were injured in a brawl at a pub in Hyderabad’s Jubilee Hills, officials said.
The incident took place during the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday at a pub located in a hotel in the Jubilee Hills area, where two groups reportedly clashed, resulting in damage to property and parked vehicles and injuries to two people.
Telangana Congress Rajya Sabha member Anil Kumar Yadav’s brother Arvind Yadav was also present during the scuffle.
Police have registered three separate cases in connection with the incident. Two cases were registered against the groups involved in the clash, while another case was filed against the management of the pub — Cara Cara Pub — for allegedly operating beyond the permitted hours, officials said.
The situation reportedly turned violent when the two groups clashed inside the pub. Bouncers intervened after the establishment’s property was allegedly vandalised during the altercation.
However, the situation escalated again after the groups moved towards the parking area. A large number of people were seen allegedly engaging in a violent confrontation in the parking lot, where parked cars were damaged and people were assaulted.
A video of the incident has also gone viral on social media, purportedly showing a group of people pushing a person to the ground and repeatedly beating him during the altercation.

Police said the incident occurred after 1 a.m. on Sunday, which was beyond the permissible operating hours of the pub.
Following the incident, police registered a suo motu case against both groups for the offence of affray and other related acts involving fighting and causing disturbance.
Separately, on the complaint of Wasim Khan, police registered another case alleging that the complainant and his friend were assaulted in the parking area while they were leaving the premises and proceeding towards their residence.
According to the complaint, the accused persons allegedly intercepted the vehicle in which Wasim Khan and his friend were travelling, assaulted them and damaged the car.
Further investigation is underway to establish the sequence of events and the individual roles of those booked in the three cases.
