On Tuesday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had a close call when the vehicle he was traveling in came into contact with an electricity wire in Rajasthan’s Nagaur. The incident occurred as Shah’s procession was en route from Bidiyad village to Parbatsar for an election rally. While passing through a narrow lane lined with shops and houses in Parbatsar, the upper part of his specially designed vehicle touched the power line, causing a spark and the subsequent snapping of the wire.
A video of the incident circulated online. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot stated that an investigation into the incident will be carried out. The vehicles following Shah’s immediately stopped, and the power supply was disconnected. Shah was transferred to another vehicle, with which he proceeded to Parbatsar and delivered his speech. He addressed three rallies in Kuchaman, Makrana, and Nagaur in support of party candidates for the November 25 assembly elections.
In Jaipur, Chief Minister Gehlot announced during a press conference that an inquiry into the incident would be initiated.
