Telangana Minister for Labour, Employment and Mines Dr. G. Vivek Venkatswamy announced that the State Government will initiate steps towards the establishment of a dedicated Welfare Board for Hamali workers. He said a special committee comprising experts, government officials and labour union representatives will be constituted shortly to examine the issues and welfare requirements of Hamali workers and recommend a comprehensive framework.

The Minister made the announcement while addressing the “Telangana Hamali Workers Welfare Board Achievement Meeting” organised by the Telangana Hamali Workers Union at the Press Club, Basheerbagh, on Monday.
Special Committee to Examine Welfare Needs of Hamali Workers
Speaking at the meeting, Vivek Venkatswamy said Hamali workers play a vital role in the functioning of:
- Markets
- Warehouses
- Transportation sector
“The economy moves on the strength of workers. Only when labourers are happy and secure can society progress,” the Minister remarked.
He said the proposal for a separate Welfare Board for Hamali workers would be examined from all angles.
According to the Minister, the proposed committee will include:
- Experts
- Government officials
- Representatives of labour unions
Based on the recommendations of the committee, the government will formulate an action plan covering:
- Workers’ welfare
- Social security
- Insurance coverage
- Other benefits
₹5 Lakh Insurance Cover Under Indira Jeevan Bima Scheme
The Labour Minister urged Hamali workers to make full use of the insurance schemes being implemented by the government.
Vivek Venkatswamy announced that eligible worker families would soon receive insurance coverage of up to ₹5 lakh under the Indira Jeevan Bima Scheme.
He said the scheme would provide financial security to families during times of distress.
Indiramma Housing Scheme Benefits for Eligible Hamali Workers
The Minister assured that the Telangana Government is committed to extending the benefits of the Indiramma Housing Scheme to all eligible Hamali worker families.
He stated that the State Government is implementing several welfare initiatives for:
- Workers
- The poor
- People employed in the unorganised sector
