Hyderabad: In a recent incident, a WhatsApp call was made demanding money to settle a drug-related case, with the caller using the display picture of the Telangana Director General of Police (DGP). The caller threatened the recipient with arrest if the payment was not made.

The call was received by the daughter of a businessman, who became suspicious after noticing the +92 country code, indicating the call was from Pakistan. Acting on this suspicion, the businessman lodged a complaint with the police.

The cyber police investigated and confirmed that the call originated from Pakistan. A case has been registered regarding the incident.

The police have issued an advisory to the public, urging them to report any such calls that request money or share suspicious links. Citizens are advised to stay vigilant against such scams.
