22 Gates of Nagarjuna Sagar Project lifted

In Srisailam projects floods continue, while 3,85,530 cusecs of flood water is coming to the project, 4,40,701 cusecs of water is being released.  As the project was fully completed the authorities lifted 10 gates. 

Nalgonda/Hyderabad: Heavy floods in the Nagarjuna Sagar project with this the authorities have lifted 22 gates to release 3.69 lakh cusecs of water to downstream.

A total of 4.17 lakh cusecs of water is coming into the reservoir and the same is going out.  The full capacity of the Nagarjunsa Sagar is 590 feet; the present level of water is at 589.60 feet.  A total of 312.04 TMCs of water can be stored in the project, but now there is 310.44 TMC water storage.  Power generation continues in the right and left power projects.

The full water level of Srisailam is 885 feet and the current water level is at 884.60 feet.  Hydro power plants are functioning in full capacity at both these reservoirs.

Due to the effect of low pressure in the Bay of Bengal, heavy rains are falling all over the Krishna district in Andhra Pradesh, and the flood flow to Prakasam barrage is increasing heavily. 

As a precaution, the authorities issued the first danger warning.  They revealed that at present the barrage inflow and outflow continues to be 4.07 lakh cusecs.
