  • Wedding season across Telangana
  • Tourist destination events
  • Christmas celebrations
  • New Year Eve parties and gatherings

On December 30, liquor sales touched ₹375 crore, while by the evening of December 31, sales had already crossed ₹350 crore, with more expected by midnight.

Excise Department Takes Preventive Measures

Anticipating heavy demand, the Excise Department ensured uninterrupted supply across the state.

Key Measures Taken

  • 2,620 liquor shops operational statewide
  • Shops allowed to remain open till 12 midnight
  • Bars permitted to operate till 1:00 AM
  • Adequate stock supplied to prevent shortages

Officials confirmed that these steps helped manage crowds and avoid supply disruptions during peak hours.

New Liquor Traders Reap Big Gains

Under the new liquor policy, shop allotments were completed in November, and new traders began operations from December 1.

With local body elections, festivals, and New Year celebrations packed into a single month, new license holders earned strong returns in their very first month, leading to widespread satisfaction among traders.

Strong Revenue Start for 2026

The record-breaking New Year Eve liquor sales in Telangana indicate a robust start to the new year for the excise department, with officials expecting steady revenue growth in the coming months.

The surge also reflects changing consumption patterns during festive seasons and large-scale celebrations across the state.
