Hyderabad: The Telangana government has begun construction of Indiramma houses for 4.5 lakh poor families across the state, marking a major step in its housing and welfare drive. Panchayat Raj Minister Seethakka announced the initiative while campaigning in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district, calling it a strong commitment to social justice and development.

Addressing a public meeting at Yadagirigutta, the minister urged Congress workers to work hard to ensure victory in the upcoming municipal elections.
Indiramma Housing Scheme Gains Momentum in Telangana
Minister Seethakka said the Indiramma housing programme has officially started statewide and will benefit 4.5 lakh economically weaker families. She added that the scheme reflects the government’s priority to provide safe housing to the poor.
She also highlighted that Rs 15 crore has been sanctioned for each municipality by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to speed up urban development.
Drinking Water Project Worth Rs 210 Crore
During the campaign, Seethakka said a drinking water scheme worth Rs 210 crore has been launched in the Yadagirigutta region to ensure clean and sufficient water supply for residents.
She congratulated Vani Bharath Goud, who was elected unopposed from Ward No. 10, and praised grassroots workers for strengthening the party at the local level.
Welfare Schemes Rolled Out by Congress Government
The minister listed several welfare initiatives implemented by the Congress government, including:
- Allocation of one bus to each Mahila Sangham
- Issue of ration cards and fine rice to eligible families
- Implementation of Gruha Jyothi scheme
- Distribution of Indiramma sarees
She said these programmes are aimed at improving daily life and reducing the financial burden on poor households.
Focus on Women Empowerment and Employment
Seethakka said special focus is being given to women empowerment. She noted that:
- 600 women were provided jobs during the Medaram Sammakka–Saralamma Jatara
- Women are being offered interest-free loans
- Additional employment opportunities and insurance coverage are being extended
Call for Support to Ensure Development
Appealing to the people of Yadagirigutta, Seethakka urged voters to support the Congress party and help it win all seats with a strong majority. She said this would enable the government to bring more funds and ensure all-round development of towns and municipalities.
The launch of Indiramma houses for 4.5 lakh poor families in Telangana is expected to significantly improve living conditions and strengthen the state’s welfare model.
