In a major food safety operation, Hyderabad Task Force busted an adulterated ginger garlic paste manufacturing unit in Tappachabutra and seized 1,155 kg of unsafe products. The accused was found producing and selling paste under highly unhygienic conditions, posing a serious health risk to consumers.

The raid was conducted in Karwan area following credible information about illegal food processing activities.

Accused Arrested in Tappachabutra

Police arrested Mohammed Zafar Alam (42), owner of a unit operating under the name Sahara India.

Key findings during the inspection:

  • Manufacturing of ginger garlic paste using citric acid and excess salt
  • Storage in open plastic tubs exposed to dust and flies
  • Production carried out in unhygienic conditions
  • Mismatch in FSSAI license address and actual premises

Officials stated that the products were unsafe and unfit for human consumption.

Large Quantity of Adulterated Paste Seized

During the raid, authorities seized a huge quantity of adulterated paste:

  • 13 tubs (650 kg)
  • 5 drums (200 kg)
  • 61 boxes (305 kg)

Total seized: 1,155 kg of ginger garlic paste

Additional items seized:

  • Grinding machine
  • Weighing machine
  • Packing materials and stickers

The total value of seized goods is estimated at ₹2.5 lakh.

Supplied to Restaurants and Kirana Stores

Investigation revealed that the accused was supplying adulterated ginger garlic paste to wholesale kirana shops, restaurants, and catering services across Hyderabad.

This raised serious concerns about food safety and public health.

Police Action and Investigation

The accused and seized materials were handed over to Tappachabutra Police Station for further legal action.
