Luxury couture brand Divani has launched its first flagship store in Hyderabad, marking a significant milestone and a symbolic homecoming rooted in the cultural legacy of the Deccan. The store, located in Banjara Hills, reflects a blend of heritage craftsmanship and contemporary design.

The launch event was attended by several prominent personalities, including Namrata Shirodkar, Shreedevi Chowdary, Divya Boppana, philanthropist Sudha Reddy, and the brand’s founder Sanya Dhir.

Designed by Habitat Architects, the boutique reimagines traditional Indian craftsmanship within a modern architectural setting. Featuring dark timber finishes, classical arches, and crystal chandeliers, the space has been conceptualised as an intimate couture salon that balances elegance with cultural depth.

At the core of the launch is a couture collection inspired by Hyderabadi nobility. The collection revives iconic silhouettes such as the khada dupatta and farshi gharara, crafted with intricate zardozi work and traditional techniques like tukdi and chatta-patti. The brand has also reintroduced heritage techniques including kutki, motichoor, farisha, and rangkat weaves, using materials like pure copper and options of silver or gold zari.

A key highlight of the brand’s philosophy is The Zardoz Project, aimed at preserving and promoting the traditional art of zardozi. Through this initiative, Divani supports over 500 artisans across various craft clusters, providing sustainable opportunities while keeping heritage skills alive.

Speaking at the launch, Sanya Dhir said the Hyderabad flagship represents the brand’s vision of preserving the past while making it relevant for the future. She emphasised that every element of the store—from its architecture to its handcrafted detailing—reflects a commitment to celebrating craftsmanship as a living legacy.

Founded in 2013, Divani has focused on reviving traditional embroidery techniques, particularly zardozi, working closely with artisans from Lucknow, Kashi, and New Delhi. The brand continues to position itself as a custodian of heritage craftsmanship, creating timeless pieces that carry forward India’s rich cultural traditions.

With its Hyderabad debut, Divani aims to strengthen its connection with a city known for its rich sartorial history, further blending tradition with contemporary couture.
