Speaking to media, Ahmed Balala said:
- “Police seized goods from pan shops within 100 meters near schools.”
- “We represented the issue from Majlis side and immediately approached the Police Commissioner.”
Demand to Protect Livelihood of Pan Shop Owners
Ahmed Balala further stated:
- “This is a livelihood issue. The seized goods should be returned immediately.”
- “There are many shops that existed earlier, and schools came later.”
- “If there is any concern, shop owners are ready to put banners and install CCTV cameras.”
- “Authorities can check anytime, there will be no complaints.”
He also added:
- “Tea and pan are part of Hyderabad’s identity.”
- “Thousands and lakhs of families depend on pan shops for livelihood.”
- “Do not harm people’s livelihood.”
Call to Focus on Drugs Instead of Harassment
Balala urged authorities:
- “Focus on controlling drugs, including online drug supply and ganja business.”
- “Catch those involved in illegal activities instead of harassing small pan shop owners.”
He said that:
- AIMIM and the public will support action against drugs
- But small vendors should not be targeted
Police Commissioner Assures Action
According to Balala:
- The Police Commissioner assured that goods will be returned
- Shop owners may be asked to submit a self-declaration
- Steps will be taken to ensure that their livelihood is not affected
