Hyderabad: In a major announcement regarding Haj 2026 guidelines, Telangana State Haj Committee Chairman Syed Ghulam Afzal Bayani said that Saudi Arabia and the Central Haj Committee have introduced new rules and reforms, including ban on self-cooking, separate accommodation for men and women, smart watch tracking, and strict heat precautions, while also addressing the ₹10,000 additional fee issue.

Speaking at a press conference in Hyderabad, he welcomed members of print media, electronic media, social media and journalists, and thanked them for their time. The implementation of these new Haj rules is currently ongoing, and efforts are being made to ensure that correct information reaches all pilgrims.

New Haj Rules 2026: Heat Advisory and Major Changes

Chairman Syed Ghulam Afzal Bayani said that due to extreme heat conditions, the Saudi government has issued strict precautions:

  • Pilgrims must stay inside tents from 12 PM to 3 PM
  • They are allowed to go outside after 3 PM

Two Major Changes Introduced

He highlighted two major reforms:

1. Ban on Self Cooking

  • Earlier, pilgrims used to cook their own food
  • Now, 70 to 80 catering companies have been assigned
  • Pilgrims must buy food from companies or hotels
  • Self-cooking is not allowed

2. Separate Accommodation व्यवस्था

  • Earlier, men and women stayed in the same room
  • Now, separate accommodation for men and women
  • Close relatives like husband-wife or mother-son will be given nearby rooms

Smart Watch Tracking and 24-Hour Control Room

The Telangana Haj Committee has introduced new monitoring systems:

  • Pilgrims will be given smart watches
  • These will track location and health information
  • Haj inspectors are being trained to guide pilgrims

He also said:

  • A 24-hour control room has been set up
  • Sick pilgrims will be taken to dispensaries for treatment immediately

Haj Kit and Strict Instructions for Pilgrims

Chairman Syed Ghulam Afzal Bayani said that pilgrims will receive 10 to 12 essential items, including:

  • Bags
  • Adapters
  • ID cards
  • Flight tickets

Strict Warning

  • Pilgrims must not carry cooking items
  • Some people earlier carried electronic stoves secretly
  • If caught, Saudi government may impose ₹1,00,000 fine or jail punishment

Security System Tightened

He stated that:

  • Earlier only screening was done
  • Now the entire system has been changed and security tightened
  • Unnecessary items may be discarded and not delivered
  • Luggage will be checked by Haj Committee
  • Pilgrims will be sent to airport by buses
  • Officials will be present at the airport

Appeal to Media

He requested media:

  • To spread accurate information and precautionary guidelines
  • So that pilgrims do not face any problems

₹10,000 Haj Fee Issue and Opposition

On the fee issue, he said:

  • An additional ₹10,000 fee is being charged
  • It has faced opposition at multiple levels
  • Letters have been sent to the Central Haj Committee and government

He added:

  • Many pilgrims save money for years
  • ₹10,000 is a burden on poor pilgrims

He confirmed:

  • The matter has been discussed with the Chief Minister
  • A decision is expected soon
  • If not waived, the fee must be paid for now
