The Telangana Intermediate Board has introduced major changes in Intermediate education, including first-year practical examinations in Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology, activity-based learning in Mathematics and revised exam patterns. Under the new system, practicals will carry 15 marks in the first year and 15 marks in the second year, while final Mathematics exams will be reduced from 75 marks to 60 marks.

First-Year Practicals Introduced in Science Subjects
According to the new changes announced in Hyderabad, practical examinations will now be conducted in the first year of Intermediate education as well.
The practical exams will apply to:
- Physics
- Chemistry
- Botany
- Zoology
Until now, practical examinations were conducted only in the second year.
15 Marks Allotted for Practicals in Each Year
The Telangana Intermediate Board decided to allot:
- 15 marks for practicals in the first year
- 15 marks for practicals in the second year
The reforms aim to strengthen practical knowledge and concept-based learning among students.
Activity-Based Learning Introduced in Mathematics
The Inter Board has also introduced activity-based learning in Mathematics.
Officials said the changes are intended to improve:
- Concept-based understanding
- Problem-solving skills
- Student participation in learning activities
Maths Final Exam Reduced From 75 to 60 Marks
Under the revised pattern, the final Mathematics examination will now be conducted for 60 marks instead of 75 marks.
The remaining marks will be allocated through internal assessment and activity-based learning.
According to the changes:
- 15 marks will be allocated for internal assessment in each year
Humanities and Language Exam Pattern Changed
In Humanities subjects, 20 marks will be allotted for activity-based learning.
The final examination marks in Humanities will be reduced from 100 marks to 80 marks.
Similarly, in language subjects:
- Final examinations will be conducted for 80 marks instead of 100 marks
- 20 marks will be allotted for internal assessment
Focus on Practical and Continuous Assessment
Officials said the reforms are aimed at reducing exam pressure on students and encouraging continuous assessment throughout the academic year.
The revised system places greater emphasis on:
- Practical learning
- Internal assessment
- Activity-based education
- Concept-oriented teaching methods
