Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy congratulated the medical team of Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences for achieving a rare milestone in kidney transplant surgeries.

The Urology Department of Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences has completed 2,000 kidney transplants, creating a rare record in the country.
NIMS Ranks First in South India for Kidney Transplants
According to the official statement, NIMS has secured first place in South India in kidney transplant surgeries.
At the national level:
- Institute of Kidney Diseases and Research Centre stands first in kidney transplants
- Christian Medical College holds second place
- Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences ranks third in the country
CM Revanth Reddy Appreciates NIMS Medical Team
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy appreciated the NIMS medical team for achieving the rare milestone and providing exceptional services to kidney patients.
The statement noted that out of the 2,000 kidney transplant patients:
- 1,900 patients, representing 95 percent, underwent kidney transplantation free of cost
- The free treatment was provided under:
- Rajiv Aarogyasri
- Chief Minister’s Relief Fund
NIMS Performs 500 Kidney Transplants in 3 Years and 4 Months
The hospital also created another record by completing 500 kidney transplants within the last three years and four months since January 2023.
Officials described the achievement as a major milestone in advanced healthcare services provided by the institution.
