Telangana Sets Record with Regular Procurement of Maize Worth Over Rs 1,000 Crore

Hyderabad: Telangana Agriculture and Marketing Minister Thummala Nageswara Rao on Wednesday announced that Rs 1,173 crore would be deposited into the bank accounts of nearly one lakh maize farmers across the state within the next three days.
The minister stated that the Telangana government has already procured 14 lakh tonnes of maize across the state, setting a new record in maize procurement.
He said the government has taken unprecedented measures to ensure smooth procurement operations by shifting maize stocks not only to warehouses within Telangana but also to storage centres in neighbouring states.

According to an official statement, the minister reviewed arrangements at the State Secretariat for the foundation stone-laying ceremony of the proposed Kohida Market, which will be inaugurated by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.
The government said the large-scale procurement drive was aimed at supporting farmers and ensuring timely payments during the ongoing agricultural marketing season.
Officials added that efforts are being made to strengthen storage and procurement infrastructure to avoid inconvenience to farmers and maintain smooth movement of agricultural produce across procurement centres.
