Telangana Will Not Rush Labour Codes Implementation, Says Minister Gaddam Vivek Venkataswamy

Telangana Labour Minister Gaddam Vivek Venkataswamy says there will be no hasty implementation of Labour Codes. Rules will be framed after consultations with labour unions and industrial stakeholders in Hyderabad.

Hyderabad: Telangana Labour, Employment, Training, Factories and Mines Minister Gaddam Vivek Venkataswamy said the state government will not take any hasty decision on the Labour Codes and that the rules will be framed only after extensive consultations with all stakeholders. Speaking at a stakeholders’ consultation meeting on Labour Codes held at the MCHRD in Hyderabad on Tuesday, the minister said the government’s objective is to protect both workers’ welfare and industrial interests through a balanced policy.

Balanced Policy Needed for Workers and Industries

Addressing the stakeholders’ consultation meeting on Labour Codes at the MCHRD in Hyderabad, Minister Gaddam Vivek Venkataswamy said Telangana needs to follow a balanced policy that safeguards the welfare of workers while protecting the interests of industries.

He said industries must operate smoothly and profitably so that employment opportunities increase and more facilities can be provided to workers.

Extensive Discussions on Labour Codes

The minister said the meeting discussed:

  • Labour Court-related issues
  • Measures to be taken in the interest of Telangana
  • Recommendations to be submitted to the Central Government
  • Rules to be framed for implementing the Labour Codes

He stressed that every issue should be discussed in detail before any decision is taken.

Minister Urges Consensus Between Managements and Workers

The minister said:

“If managements and workers discuss issues with each other and arrive at reasonable decisions, it will create a positive atmosphere for industries. When industries perform well, workers remain happy. Industrial expansion will also help provide more facilities to workers.”

He urged industrial bodies and labour unions to share their suggestions and opinions on the Labour Codes without hesitation while ensuring that workers’ interests remain protected.

He reiterated that the government’s goal is to adopt a balanced policy that benefits both workers and industries.

Telangana’s Vision for a $3 Trillion Economy by 2047

The minister said the Telangana government is giving special attention to industrial requirements in line with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s vision of transforming Telangana into a $3 trillion economy by 2047.

He said the government has been holding discussions with industrial associations for several months to prepare a skilled workforce required by industries.

According to the minister, the government is identifying the skills required across different sectors and providing training to youth accordingly.

He also announced that the Advanced Technology Centres (ATCs) being established across the state will help make skilled human resources available for industries.

Minimum Wages Decided Through Consultations

Gaddam Vivek Venkataswamy said the government followed the same consultation-based approach while addressing the issue of minimum wages.

He said the decision was taken only after extensive discussions with industrial associations and other stakeholders.

The minister recalled that there had been no increase in minimum wages for the last 10 years, resulting in several demands from workers.

Taking into account both workers’ needs and the condition of industries, the government prepared a balanced proposal, he said.

He also thanked industrial associations for supporting the government’s proposal.

No Rush in Implementing Labour Codes

The minister made it clear that the Telangana government has no intention of implementing the Labour Codes in haste.

He said:

“The government has no intention of implementing the Labour Codes in a hurried manner. Every issue should be discussed comprehensively. If necessary, submit written suggestions on specific issues. We will discuss them again and arrive at a decision acceptable to everyone.”

He thanked representatives of industrial organisations and leaders of labour unions who participated in the meeting and shared their views.

Telangana Labour Minister Gaddam Vivek Venkataswamy has reiterated that the state government will not take any hasty decision on the Labour Codes. Speaking at the stakeholders’ consultation meeting at MCHRD in Hyderabad, he said the rules will be framed only after comprehensive consultations with industrial bodies and labour unions, with equal importance given to workers’ welfare and industrial growth.
