Hyderabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday virtually inaugurated the redeveloped Hi-Tech City Railway Station in Hyderabad as part of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. The station is among 75 redeveloped railway stations inaugurated nationwide from Jalandhar Railway Station. Redeveloped at a cost of Rs 26 crore, the station now features modern passenger amenities, airport-like infrastructure and technology-driven facilities.

PM Modi Virtually Inaugurates Hi-Tech City Railway Station
Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated the redeveloped Hi-Tech City Railway Station from Jalandhar Railway Station on Friday.
The Hyderabad station is one of 75 redeveloped railway stations inaugurated across the country under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
A function was also held at Hi-Tech City Railway Station, attended by:
- Member of Legislative Council A.V.N. Reddy
- South Central Railway General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava
- Other senior officials

Rs 26 Crore Redevelopment with Modern Passenger Amenities
Speaking on the occasion, South Central Railway General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava said the station has been redeveloped with a new building and several modern passenger amenities.
These include:
- Improved waiting halls
- Passenger-friendly signage
- Lifts
- Escalators
- Divyangjan facilities
He also said redevelopment works at the remaining railway stations in Telangana are progressing according to schedule.
Telangana Witnessing Rail Infrastructure Transformation
Sanjay Kumar Srivastava said Telangana has been at the centre of rail infrastructure transformation with:
- Record infrastructure addition
- Rapid railway electrification
- Modernised passenger facilities
The Hi-Tech City Railway Station has been redeveloped at a cost of Rs 26 crore, featuring:
- Contemporary architecture
- Airport-like passenger spaces
- New-age aesthetics
Technology-Driven Station for Hyderabad’s IT Corridor
According to a South Central Railway release, the transformed station offers:
- A spacious commuter-centric environment
- Technology-driven passenger facilities
- Seamless and efficient travel experience
- A future-ready gateway to Hyderabad’s IT corridor
The station is one of 40 railway stations identified for redevelopment under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme in Telangana.
Of these, three stations have already been inaugurated:
- Begumpet
- Warangal
- Karimnagar
New Facilities at Hi-Tech City Railway Station
The redeveloped station now includes:
- A 12-metre Foot Over Bridge
- Additional lifts
- Escalators
- Passenger-friendly signage
- Improved station façade
- A new portico
Officials said the redevelopment marks a defining milestone in Indian Railways’ vision of creating world-class urban transport infrastructure for India’s rapidly evolving economic centres.
They added that the station has been reimagined with:
- Expansive passenger spaces
- Airport-like aesthetics
- Contemporary architecture
- Commuter-focused planning
The upgraded station is expected to provide an elevated travel experience in line with the aspirations of Hyderabad’s globally recognised IT corridor.
