Hyderabad Traffic Alert: Major Road Closures and Diversions from Lal Darwaza to Chilkalguda
During the Bonalu celebrations, TSRTC and APSRTC buses will not be allowed towards Charminar, Falaknuma and Nayapul. The buses will be stopped at Old CBS, Afzal Gunj, Darulshifa X Road, Chatrinaka and Engine Bowli and operated through alternative routes.

Hyderabad: In view of the Bonalu festivities, the Hyderabad Traffic Police have made elaborate traffic arrangements across several parts of the city. Traffic restrictions and diversions will be enforced around Lal Darwaza, Karwan, Amberpet and Chilkalguda during Bonalu celebrations and processions, while designated parking facilities have also been arranged for devotees.
In the Old City, traffic restrictions will be in force around the Simhavahini Sri Mahankali Temple at Lal Darwaza from 6 am on August 9 until the procession concludes, and again from 9 am on August 10 until the procession is completed. Vehicles coming towards Aliabad from Engine Bowli, Falaknuma and Mehdipatnam X Road will be diverted through alternative routes. Traffic will also be diverted for vehicles approaching Lal Darwaza from Nagul Chinta, Sudha Talkies, Gowlipura, Rajanna Bowli, Kandikal Gate and Balaganj.
Vehicles travelling towards Charminar and Lal Darwaza from Chatrinaka, Uppuguda, Chandrayangutta, Fateh Darwaza, Moghalpura, Mir Chowk, Yakutpura and Purani Haveli will also be diverted through alternative routes. The main road from Madina X Road to Engine Bowli via Gulzar Houz, Charminar, Charminar Bus Terminal, Himmatpura, Nagul Chinta and Aliabad will remain closed to all vehicles until the procession is completed.
Traffic coming from Chaderghat, Noor Khan Bazaar, SJ Rotary and Shivaji Bridge towards Salar Jung Museum will also be diverted. Vehicles travelling from Khilwat and Moosabowli towards Laad Bazaar will similarly be diverted through alternative routes.
Parking facilities have been arranged at several locations for devotees. Those arriving from Aliabad can park on the designated portion of Devi Plywood Main Road opposite Shalibanda Post Office or at the vacant premises near Alka Theatre. Devotees coming from Haribowli and Gowlipura can use the parking facilities at Arya Vysya Mandir, the vacant premises near Alka Theatre, VDP School Ground and Mitra Sports Club. Those arriving from Chatrinaka can park at the Sri Venkateshwara Swamy Temple premises in Laxminagar or at the Phoolbagh Chaman Ground near Patther Ki Dargah. Devotees coming from Moosabowli and Mir Chowk can use the Charminar Bus Terminal for parking.

In Karwan, traffic diversions for the Darbar Maisamma Bonalu celebrations and the elephant procession will begin from 9 pm on August 8 and continue until the morning of August 10. Vehicles approaching the Darbar Maisamma Temple from Puranapool Junction, Tappachabutra T Junction, Yadav Bhavan, Murgi Chowk, Tallagadda Junction and Moghal Kanala will be diverted through alternative routes. Parking facilities for devotees have been arranged at the Karwan Government Primary and High School grounds, the government school premises opposite Toli Masjid and private premises belonging to Jagat Singh. The Jagat Singh premises can be used for two-wheelers.
At Amberpet Mahankali Temple, traffic restrictions will remain in force from 6 am on August 9 until noon on August 10. All vehicles, including buses, DCMs and heavy vehicles travelling from Uppal towards Chaderghat and MGBS will be routed through the Amberpet Flyover. Vehicles travelling in the opposite direction from Chaderghat and MGBS will also be routed through the flyover. Devotees arriving from Ramanthapur can take the left-side lane near the Amberpet Flyover towards the Gandhi Statue and park their vehicles at the Amberpet GHMC Ground.
At Chilkalguda, traffic diversions will be in force from 5 am to 11 pm on August 9 and 10 near the Sri Katta Maisamma and Pochamma Temple. Vehicles travelling from Sitaphalmandi Junction towards Chilkalguda X Road will be diverted towards Namalagundu, Warasiguda X Road, Sitaphalmandi T Junction, Osmania University City Road and Tarnaka X Road. Vehicles travelling from Alugadda Baavi and Secunderabad towards Sitaphalmandi through Chilkalguda X Road will be diverted towards Padmarao Nagar T Junction.
The Hyderabad Traffic Police have advised motorists to plan their journeys in advance as heavy crowds are expected in the festival areas. Citizens have been urged to avoid the Bonalu procession routes wherever possible and use alternative roads. For emergency traffic assistance, motorists can contact 9010203626.
