Hyderabad : Boduppal A major environmental incident has been reported at Raa Cheruvu in Boduppal, where more than 10 tonnes of fish are feared to have died after chemicals were allegedly released into the lake during the midnight hours.

The sudden fish kill has left the local fishing community and residents shocked, with large numbers of dead fish reportedly found floating in the lake. The incident has raised serious concerns over water pollution and its possible impact on aquatic life.

According to preliminary reports, unknown chemicals were allegedly discharged into the lake late at night. The source of the discharge and the identity of those responsible have not yet been established.

Fishermen who depend on the lake for their livelihood are particularly concerned about the incident, as the mass death of fish could result in significant financial losses. Residents have also expressed concern about the possible impact of contaminated water on the surrounding environment.

The incident has prompted demands for authorities to collect water samples, identify the chemical involved and determine the cause of the fish deaths. Locals are also seeking strict action if illegal dumping or chemical discharge is confirmed.

Environmental officials are expected to assess the condition of the lake and investigate whether the water has been contaminated by industrial or other hazardous substances.

The mass fish deaths at Raa Cheruvu have once again highlighted concerns over pollution, illegal waste disposal and the protection of Hyderabad’s urban water bodies.
