NGT asks AP CS to Clarify on Projects

Since the chief secretary of AP is to retire from the service on September 30, the government should come up with its report on the projects, the tribunal said.

Hyderabad: National Green Tribunal (NGT) today expressed displeasure at the Andhra Pradesh Government on projects related violations. The tribunal directed the Chief Secretary Adithyanath Das to submit a report on the steps being taken to prevent the same.

Since the chief secretary of AP is to retire from the service on September 30, the government should come up with its report on the projects, the tribunal said.

NGT heard a petition to take action against the AP Government for construction of more projects and violations of norms. The tribunal took exception to the AP Government for not following its previous orders to stop works of the construction of the projects.

NGT has already warned of taking serious action against the Chief Secretary and officials for not complying with the norms.

Now the case is heard again and the tribunal instructed the chief secretary to give his clarification before he retires. The tribunal reportedly instructed the Telangana government to give its report by month end.

The Telangana government is to produce its version in the tribunal on September 27. The tribunal is to take steps against the violations on hearing the case again.
