Andhra Pradesh Implements 260 PPP Projects Worth Rs 1.23 Lakh Crore, Chandrababu Naidu Pushes Infrastructure Growth

Andhra Pradesh is implementing 260 PPP projects worth Rs 1,23,229 crore. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu reviewed the projects and directed officials to accelerate implementation under the Swarna Andhra 2047 Vision.

Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh is currently implementing 260 Public-Private Partnership (PPP) projects worth Rs 1,23,229 crore, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu was informed during a review meeting on Thursday. The projects span industry, infrastructure, urban development, tourism, medical colleges, roads and solar power. Naidu directed officials to accelerate implementation, leverage Central Government support, and ensure all projects follow sustainable models while aligning with the Swarna Andhra 2047 Vision.

Andhra Pradesh Reviews Rs 1.23 Lakh Crore PPP Projects

During a review meeting on the status of PPP projects and related government investments, officials informed Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu that 260 projects worth Rs 1,23,229 crore are at various stages of implementation.

The projects cover multiple sectors, including:

  • Industry
  • Infrastructure
  • Urban development
  • Tourism
  • Medical colleges
  • Roads
  • Solar power

Chandrababu Naidu Stresses Importance of PPP Model

The Chief Minister said Viability Gap Funding (VGF)-supported projects will play a pivotal role in driving future infrastructure development.

He observed that while India had witnessed an era of economic reforms in the past, the country is now undergoing an infrastructure revolution.

Naidu said PPP projects provide the best opportunity to accelerate development across multiple sectors and directed that every project be developed on a sustainable model with adequate opportunities for economic activity.

Directions to Officials

Naidu instructed officials to:

  • Effectively utilise Central Government support mechanisms such as the Urban Challenge Fund
  • Establish an efficient institutional mechanism for managing ports, airports and other major infrastructure
  • Place the Andhra Pradesh Public-Private Partnership–VGF Policy 1.0 before the next Cabinet meeting
  • Issue detailed implementation guidelines at the earliest
  • Study various PPP frameworks being implemented by the Central Government

Swarna Andhra 2047 Vision and Investment Plans

Officials projected that, in line with the Swarna Andhra 2047 Vision, Andhra Pradesh could attract Rs 8 lakh crore in annual investment through PPP projects.

They said large-scale infrastructure investments would be concentrated in the:

  • Visakhapatnam Economic Region
  • Amaravati Economic Region
  • Tirupati Economic Region

Naidu directed that all projects should align with both the micro and macro objectives of the Swarna Andhra Vision.

He also stressed the need to continuously identify gaps, improve implementation and seize emerging opportunities.

Revenue Strategies and Infrastructure Development

The Chief Minister said supplying water to industries would generate revenue for the Water Resources Department and noted that irrigation associations would also play an important role.

He directed every government department to prepare a comprehensive financial plan with:

  • Short-term revenue strategies
  • Medium-term revenue strategies
  • Long-term revenue strategies

Naidu said government departments should implement PPP projects in a manner that inspires investor confidence and emphasised that Andhra Pradesh should secure a first-mover advantage in every promising sector.

Fishermen, Temples and Central Government Support

The Chief Minister directed that local fishermen be made stakeholders in coastal tourism projects so they can directly benefit from the developments.

He also instructed officials to create better public infrastructure and economic activity zones around 21 major temples across Andhra Pradesh.

Officials informed the Chief Minister that:

  • The Central Government has sanctioned Rs 178 crore in Viability Gap Funding (VGF) for Waste-to-Energy plants in Vijayawada and Tirupati.
  • Rs 1,468 crore in VGF is expected for medical colleges.
  • The Department of Economic Affairs, Government of India, has appreciated Andhra Pradesh’s PPP model adopted for establishing medical colleges.
